Ganesha

Most revered god of success and destroyer of obstacles in Hinduism. The origin of Ganesha has various stories but most popular one is…Once goddess Parvati creates a boy from the dirt she has washed off her body. She assigns him the task of guarding the entrance to her bathroom. When her husband Shiva returns, he is surprised to find the strange boy denying him access. In a rage, Shiva decapitates him.To ease Parvati’s grief, Shiva promised to cut off the head of the first living thing he saw and attach it to the body. That creature was an elephant. Ganesha was thus restored to life and rewarded for his courage by being made lord of new beginnings and guardian of entrances. Then onwards he is the guardian of spiritual world and the first energy to grant access to the higher dimensions.
In symbolic terms Ganesha’s elephantine head symbolizes soul, the supreme intelligence and wisdom, while his human body signifies Maya or mankind’s earthly existence.
