Princess of Mithila..Sita!

I have deep fascination for mythological stories as I grew up reading, listening and imagining them.Though im not a religious or ritualistic person, to me myths serve as window to the soul, and provide an understanding of the world around us. So i feel its important to be enriched and empowered by its ancient, potent and still relevant language.
I find SITA as a woman with progressive thoughts, gritty and an epitome of feminine virtues. Though she is best known for her dedication and purity. Born from the womb of earth in unusual way, she is the central character of great epic Ramayan.Sita dedicated her entire life to Ram even if she was abducted by demon Ravan and kept in captive. Ram rescued Sita from the clutches of Ravana and she was asked to prove her purity by going through fire test. She proves her integrity though deeply hurt, they return to their Kingdom. And then Ram was forced to abandon her due to political reasons. In Hindu mythology, he is the only king devoted to a single wife, who is associated with the most unjust act of abandoning her pregnant wife in the forest to protect family reputation.
The story ends as Rama realises his folly and asks her to join him back but then emotionally wounded Sita refuses for the sake of dignity of women and goes back in the lap of mother earth.
